About Me

Well, I’m not used to, or very keen on the idea of writing about myself but, here goes: I’m a nature-loving, song-singing, belly-dancing, karate-chopping, flamenco-stomping, jewellery-making, photo-taking, acrylic-painting, banjo-playing, bird-watching, trail-trekking, fish-keeping, animal-loving, garden-digging, gorilla-mimicking, shark-watching, tiger-stalking, race-running, book-reading, language-speaking, music-listening, cartoon-watching, tofu-eating, tea-drinking, free-thinking, glass-half-full kinda girl.

In my other life, I am a desk-bound translator, an uninspiring and unrewarding occupation. It would be fair to say that I don’t like my job – it’s OK, I’m allowed to say that, I work for myself. Last year, I was pondering the ins and outs and the meaning of life, when I decided that while my job is of little benefit to others (let’s face it, translators are ten a penny), I could try and make myself useful in my spare time. The funny thing is, since all this started, my job has become something I do in my spare time, which is quite nice, although it doesn’t pay the bills.

I’ve always loved jumping about, being active and exercising but to be honest, running was a bit of a “no-go” area because, well, I just didn’t go. To be fair, I’m built more for strength rather than speed – think pit pony, not race horse:

Before all this started, I probably couldn’t have managed to run more than 500 metres without feeling as if I need a lung-bypass (even though I could swim a mile without any hassle). Now I’ve started on my journey, I don’t think I’ll ever turn back. I can honestly say that I actually enjoy my runs now, it took some perseverance, but I got there. Now, I look forward to running outdoors in all weathers and just enjoying the freedom. I feel incredibly lucky and very happy that I started down this road. Believe me, if I can do this, anyone can!

Of course you can do it! Just remember the good thing is no matter how slowly you go, you’re guaranteed to have at least one person behind you in the Marathon – me!

This is a fabulous website – who knows, there may be a book in the making. If so, I’m your volunteer editor!! 🙂

Nice blog. You know what, pit ponies are so much nicer than thoroughbreds…much better natured and less highly strung!
I make jewellery too…glad to see another who does the same 🙂
Hugs to you honey, and thanks for being so sweet to me on the tweet! It means a lot.

So you’re not just a knitting genius? Perhaps we can swap beading tips sometime 🙂
